This poster was created during the Columbia student protests of 1968. It became a symbol of black students' stance against institutional racism, the university's harm to the black community of Harlem and its association with military research for the Vietnam War. After the protest, Columbia ended its construction of a Gym being built on public land that would have given black residents limited use, the university provost and president resigned, and ended its affiliation with the Institude for Defense Analyses.
